A favorite
I've read Paradise Kiss back when TokyoPop originally released the series in the US as a 5-volume release. I was thrilled that Vertical picked it up although I didn't have a need to get it again just yet. I'm glad that I held off because when this 20th anniversary edition came up on my recommendations, I snapped it up. It is a really nice presentation. I love the opening color pages. The text is easy to read too. The story itself is as good, poignant and piercing to me as it was when I first read it back in the mid-2000s. Yukari and gang are still messy and goofy and oddly engaging (except for Arashi who I have never forgiven... haha). There are some manga series that I re-read that don't quite stand the test of time, but ParaKiss still reads as relevant today as it was when I first read it. So happy that I got this edition and thank you, Vertical, for publishing it here in the States.
Story is great, book itself damaged
This is not a review of the story of Paradise Kiss, which my wife read in the past as a teen, and is getting a kick out of revisiting as an adult. The fact that a book called "new" can have the sort of damage this copy has is pretty discouraging. The damage is small, but not insignificant. It's only because my wife is enjoying the story so much that we decided to only remove one star. Just be aware that the book copy you get may not be the best.

This manga brings back so many memories. I'm happy to have bought this new edition that includes all 5 chapters. The illustrations are exquisite. Happy my copy was not damaged; it arrived in perfect condition. If you love the manga, check out the anime also. A++++++

Surprising, this came undamaged and it perfect condition. So happy about that.
The material is great, packaging less so.
I love Ai Yazawa, but the way the book was packaged was not great. It looked like it was tossed into the paper bag that it arrived with. It also arrived with an art caddy which was not packaged either, so I think the sharp corners damanged the book, as you can see in the photos
